The trio of  Sarah Panek,   Elizabeth (Liz) Porto  and   Devan Wildman  have been named Shelton Gaelettes Girls soccer team captains for the upcoming 2020 campaign, head coach Marvin Miller announced Tuesday at the programs team banquet.

The captains were selected following a team vote last month.

Panek, Porto and Wildman were all Varsity starters this
season and have been playing together at the club level for Shelton FC since they were 8 years old.

Behind their leadership, the Gaelettes will look to carry over the momentum from a very successful 2019 campaign that saw them make it to the Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) Finals game for the second year in a row only to lose 2-1 to eventual Class L State Champion Guilford.  This season the Gaelettes also made it to the second round of the CT State tournament but lost to the 2 time defending state champions Ridgefield in the second round.  The Gaelettes were only the third team this season to score at least 2 goals against Ridgefield.
